Cameron Bale, who plays for 02B Silver, wore his Dynamos colors with pride last Saturday when he visited Selhurst Park Stadium to watch home club Crystal Palace face Brighton in an English Premier League match. He was the DynamosDifference again on Sunday when he attended the Manchester United vs. Arsenal game.

THE BUZZ
Among guests slated for Sunday's Joe B. Napier Kick Cancer Camp (March 17, 3-5:30pm) at Dyess Park is Josh Gardner, Houston area product who is a former player with Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy, Columbus Crew and Sporting KC. Sign up on this website now or donate for a camper to come to this fun event. All funds raised by the camp will benefit pediatric cancer research. Also attending will be cancer survivors Eileen Dowd, now a Dynamos trainer, and former Dynamos player Kylie Austin. . .In the first MLS power rankings of 2019 by USsoccerplayers.com, the Houston Dynamo is listed at No. 14, with this commentary: “Manotas, in Spanish, means ‘big hands.’ Houston’s Mauro Manotas will need to use his big hands to pick up this team and carry them higher. He’s off to a good start, scoring a goal in a draw against RSL. And his track record is solid. He scored 19 goals a year ago, nearly doubling his 10-goal output from 2017.” Seattle Sounders and Atlanta United are ranked 1-2. Manotas added his 50th career goal with the Dynamo last Saturday to lift the team to its first MLS win of 2019 over the Montreal Impact. . .The U. S. men’s national team faces Chile on Tues., March 26, 7pm, at Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium. . .Tickets for the 2019 Women’s World Cup final Group A match between France and Nigeria quickly sold out. The FIFA Women's World Cup is one of the most celebrated events in the world and tickets for all games are going fast. The Women's World Cup was founded in 1991 and is played every four years at a rotating host country. . .Twenty-year-old American player Christian Pulisic came off the bench last Saturday and helped Dortmund keep their title hopes alive with an assist on the go-ahead goal in the 84th minute, then scored himself in stoppage time for a 3-1 win over Stuttgart. QUOTABLE
“There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't yet met."—Coach William Butler Yeats
THOUGHT ON COACHING
Even at the youth level, goal keeping is very unforgiving–teammates and parents can be very quick to criticize a keeper error, whereas a missed scoring opportunity at the other end might go unmentioned. This is one of the reasons why goalkeeper is a position that can be hard to fill; so when it comes to coaching your goalkeeper, you should do all you can to encourage him or her by making training fun, easy to understand and full of variety.—Dave Clarke, Soccer Coach Weekly
ANOTHER THOUGHT
What is the best thing about the Dynamos Select program? Not paying lip service to player development, but making the primary goal helping boys and girls to be the best they can be, both as players and citizens. Across the country it’s much talked about, but rarely implemented as seriously as here. Many people have spent many hours planning, organizing, defending and protecting the program we now have. Olivier Finidori has done more over the past nearly-30 years than anyone can know to build our program while keeping player development as the primary focus. There are subtle changes from the way other clubs operate, but philosophically the differences are huge.—Jim Walker
IT’S ONLY FAIR
Coach Cy Fair overheard one of his players explaining the benefit of Daylight Saving Time this way: the hours are longer, 65 minutes. When someone mentioned that Coach Flo was outspoken, one of her players asked: by whom?
